by The Affordable Storage Guy

I view organization in two ways: effective or ineffective. If what you are happy with your type of organization – why change?

We can be very judgmental. I think we spend too much time wondering what other people think about our organizational ability. We often make assumptions about people whose organizational style is different than our own.

What does matter is that you are comfortable with your own organizational skills. Whether you fold your underwear or color code your closet, or drop everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) into a big pile on the floor; you should give yourself permission to be who you are and not let the opinion of others’ upset you. However, if you wish you were more effective. Read on!

Anyway, I digress. The focus of this article is to offer a simple plan for organizing yourself. The first idea is to help with organizing things. The second is a suggestion about organizing your time. The ideas below can work equally well for a school, a house, or a work space.

Three Box System: How To Organize Your Things

First, get three boxes. In large letters label the boxes:

Write ‘THROW AWAY’ on the first box. The second box is the ‘GIVE AWAY’ box. On the third box, write ‘PUT AWAY’.

Sort through a cluttered area and ask yourself three questions to decide which box an item goes into:

1. Have I used this item in the past year? a. Yes? – Put it away. b. No? – Throw or give away 2. Does the item have sentimental or monetary value? a. Yes? – Is it something you want to keep or is it time to pass it on to someone else who would appreciate it? b. No? – Throw or give away. If you want less clutter in your space, you will absolutely need to let go of some stuff! 3. Do I know someone who could use this? a. Yes? – Great! Give it to them. If you think you might need it sometime, just ask them if you would be able to borrow it if you ever need it. b. No? – You can always donate items to the Salvation Army or another charitable society.

WARNING – Beware of the phrase ‘You never know when this will come in handy.’ You’ll never be able to throw or give anything away because it’s too easy to convince yourself that you are being prudent by keeping everything.

Create A To Do List To Organize Your Time

We are all given the same 24 hours in a day to accomplish things. I’m fascinated by how we all make our choices and turn out so differently. Some are billionaires, some are famous celebrities, some are just happy, and,of course, some are neither rich nor happy.

One simple thing you can do to get a better control of your time is to create a daily to do list. It doesn’t matter what you write the list on – as long as you keep it with you. The idea is that you write down all the things you need to get done as they pop up throughout the day including appointments, errands, grocery list items, etc.

In the morning – before things get busy – review your tasks for the day and pick two or three other things that you can complete that day. You won’t always get everything done – just be pleased that you accomplished something! If there are chores that keep getting shuffled to the bottom of the list – that’s okay. There are days when you have nothing to do – that’s when you go after those types of tasks.

Ask yourself if there is anything on your list that you can get someone else to do. Sometimes we think we have to do everything ourselves; which is usually not the only solution.

Organization Can Become A Habit

Whatever you are used to doing is a habit – and it will take a concentrated effort on your part to change. It has been said that it takes 21 days to replace a habit. Why do most New Year’s Resolutions fade? Because we don’t focus on them long enough to become a new habit.

Repetition Is Key To Making A New Habit Stick

So, in your journey to become more effective with your time and/or space be aware that it takes about a month of constant, conscious repetition to make a lasting personal change.

by Dr. Mike Gosling

Every winner relies on a PROVEN SYSTEM to manage personal stress. In this article, the first of seven, expert counselor Karen Gosling explains why we need a system to beat stress and introduces two emotion laws.

Who else wants to discover how to manage their stress … take control of their emotional health once and forever … and know that it was worth it? If you are ready to learn how to survive stressful times … then this is going to be the greatest message you ever seen and read. Why? Because what I’m about to show you will literally turn your personal stress around … so you take control and manage your emotions!!

Because what I’m about to demonstrate will literally turn your personal stress around … so you take control and manage your emotions!!

When you can VISUALIZE how your thinking influences your feelings, you can use the strategies repeated times. You will begin to follow a SPECIFIC set of procedures and instructions.

It’s no wonder successful people can achieve and get so much done… Because they have a PROVEN SYSTEM! But unfortunately, not everyone in the world uses a PROVEN SYSTEM to survive personal stress. And now you can understand why people are suffering in their life dramas.

For a system to be PROVEN, it must generate results that are:

1) Predictable 2) Repeatable

1) Predictable 2) Repeatable

Before we end today’s lesson, I want to share with you two very important psychological concepts.

I call them the TWO IMMUTABLE LAWS OF EMOTION.

1st Immutable Law of Emotion – EXPRESS YOUR EMOTION. If you want to succeed emotionally, always remember that you need to EXPRESS YOUR EMOTION.

There are four ways you can express emotion.

1. Understand and effectively express they way you feel about various issues; that’s, in the right way, to the right degree and at the right time.

2. Effectively utilize and be confident in using non-verbal emotional cues, for example, body language and tone of voice, to communicate how you feel.

3. Create an improved understanding about yourself amongst your family, friends, and colleagues.

4. Be genuine and trustworthy.

So, before you start applying your system to survive personal stress ask yourself how you can express yourself in one or more ways above.

2nd Immutable Law of Emotion – RECOGNIZE EMOTION. There are many ways you can reognize emotion, but here are four.

1. In today’s stressful environment, your must be able to recognize emotion in yourself and in others.

2. Be open to emotions; be attentive to whether words, voice tone, and body language matches.

3. Become good at picking up when people are saying something that differs from reality.

4. Use focused attention and pick up on the mood of a room or your environment.

The truth is, people BEHAVE, both passively and aggressively. They want to deal with their pain and joy – and will often blame others. So make sure you develop a unique ability to express and recognize emotion if you want to BEAT your life drama.

In my next article, I’ll share with you the primary step in my PROVEN Stress-Busting Success System that has helped thousands to survive personal stress.

For some people, acrophobia or fear of heights is a significant stress trigger. While my wife is blissfully relaxed in cable cars and driving on high mountains, I become a quivering mess. My first awareness of this was driving up to a British hill station in north-eastern India. The 6000 feet climb caused me huge stress and I had to figure how high and I could relieve the stress

Different experiences trigger different levels of stress for people. Some people get a rush out of extreme sports while others are terrified at the thought of doing such dangerous things. For me, it is heights like to think of a way of reducing the stress. My best stress relief strategy is to make sure that I don’t engage in these experiences.

What are your triggers? What things, creatures, events, meetings, circumstances are your stressors? There are quite a few groups of triggers or stressors that will increase your adrenaline rush and make you feel anxious and worried. Let’s look at some of them and, while you are reviewing my list of triggers, note down any that are a particular worry for you.

There are many workplace triggers that induce stress for people. These include poor role description, inadequate working environment, boring work, being asked to do things that don’t fit your skill set, inadequate or insufficient training, and poor bosses. Sometimes the work culture that creates stress, racism, sexual harassment, discriminatory treatment and so. There are many potential triggers in the workplace and the job for you is to find the best stress relief mechanisms.

I grew up on a farm so I am not particularly concerned about snakes but many people have deep fears about these creatures. Consider your own list of personal fears. Sometimes they are social fears like attending a party when you don’t feel confident or appearing dumb or uninformed. Body shape and being overweight can destroy people’s self-esteem and cause social stress.

Being a family can be a stressful event. If you are a parent, saving up to college, paying your kids dental bills, determining when they should be able to date, unwanted pregnancies – the list goes on. You might be worried about your own relationships and this causes you constant stress. Families do create stress but they also provide stress relief.

We each need to know what it is that causes stress and we have to learn how to relieve the stress. I use a simple acronym to help people manage their stress – BE CALM. It is B for build, E for examine, C for confront, A for accept, L for let go (forgive, forget), and M for Move on with your life. I explain this more carefully in clinical settings but the important point is that we can map out a program to relieve and manage stress very well.

by Janet Malley

You’ve had them before, those nasty little gray or while round sores inside your mouth on the tongue, the roof of your mouth or inside your cheeks. They hurt and make you feel miserable.

If you search the cause of canker sores, you’ll find different answers, and even that the cause is unknown. It’s frustrating, because if you knew what really caused them, it would be easier to search for a solution.

It appears the answer is this – the cause is different from person to person. To find an effective treatment, it’s important to be mindful when you get a canker sore of what food you ate, if something painful occurred in the mouth, such as dental work or biting the inside of your cheek, if you are under a lot of emotional stress, or not getting adequate sleep.

IS IT A VIRAL INFECTION? If your canker sores occur after a dental procedure or other painful experience in the mouth area, for example, biting the inside of your cheek, or when you are experiencing stress, are over-tired, or receiving chemo therapy or radiation treatments, consider a virus as the culprit.

Anti-viral Treatments:

Propolis – Produced by bees, propolis is used as a construction material in bee hives, comprised of a complex of chemicals (especially flavonoids), which play a role as an antiviral agent. Some individuals have allergic reactions to Propolis, and for them, this would not be a good choice.

Slippery Elm – Make a paste by mixing this herbal powder and water. Smear the paste directly on your canker sores as often as you feel you need to. This mixture has been found to completely heal canker sores in some people.

Canker Sores Begone – You might want to try this superb, topical herbal product in a pocket-size bottle that you can take with you throughout the day. Feedback from clients, many of my readers, and that of my own personal experience is that it does work as promised.

ARE YOU ALLERGIC TO CERTAIN ACIDIC FOODS? Acidic food is a common trigger for many people. You are probably aware that citrus fruit and tomatoes are acidic, but so are grapes, chocolate, salty or spicey foods, sugar, certain nuts, strawberries, and coffee. If this seems to apply more than a virus, try one the following suggestions:

To determine if a specific food, or more than one food, is causing your problem, do something called “food elimination”. For a few weeks, eliminate the suspected foods. If there have been no canker sores during that time, reintroduce them one at a time for a week or so to see which one, or more than one, triggers a canker.

Food elimination may be too difficult for some people, so another way to go is nutritional supplementation. Buffered Vitamin C taken daily will reduce the level of histamines in your body. Take 1,000-1,200 milligrams. To enhance the effectiveness of the vitamin C, take 100 milligrams of grapeseed extract daily which will help work as a preventative, or if there’s an existing canker sore, allow for quicker healing.

FOR YOU, IT MIGHT BE A VITAMIN DEFICIENCY – You might be deficient in Thiamine. Research indicates it can result in recurring canker sores. You might want to experiment to see if thiamin prevents your mouth sores by taking 100 milligrams daily.

A High-Potency Multivitamin – I always recommend to buy vitamins at a health food store or online vitamin retailer, because there, you’ll know the vitamins will be of a higher quality. The vitamin you chose should include 500-1,000 micrograms of vitamin B12, 800 micrograms of folic acid, 20 milligrams of zinc, and 10 milligrams of iron. Add what you need to from individual supplements if the multivitamin doesn’t include all you need.

If you find the causes above just don’t seem to apply to you, or you’re still not sure, here are two remedies that just may provide the relief you’re looking for:

Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL) – There’s an herb known as licorice, which has anti-inflammatory properties, decreases healing time, and soothes canker sore pain. Chew one or two 200-milligram tablets two or three times a day until the sore heals. In addition, you can empty the powder from a capsule into one half cup of lukewarm water, dissolve the DGL, and swish the solution around in your mouth. Repeat this at least two or three times a day until the sore has healed.

Tea Bag – Tannin from tea may relieve the pain almost instantly. Hold a used tea bag against the sore for a few minutes. Repeat a few times daily until healed.

In deciding upon which of these options to try, be patient and persistent. If one remedy doesn’t seem to work, try another. Finding a solution will be worth it, wouldn’t you agree?

You’re a highly sensitive person and you are made up of Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual components.

1. Please don’t judge what happened to you when you were young as an indicator of what you could handle. When you feel challenged with what life is handing you now, remember that you are strong. Your sensitive body can take a lot.

2. Listening to your body will grant you the wisdom of cause and effect. Your sensitive body will instruct you when you have made wrong choices and also right choices. How often now does your body react negatively to the choices you have made?

3. The thoughts you have about harming the people from your past will bring more of the same into your life. Your mind is very influential. It will create the thoughts you hold in it. Keep it on the positive. Have your mind work for you not against you.

4. The beliefs you have about yourself will determine how high you can fly. Monitor your self-talk to determine what your beliefs are. Change your beliefs about yourself and your abilities to the positive. Nothing is out of reach if you believe it to be so.

5. Have you been so emotionally overwhelmed that it seemed as if you could not go on? Then after you recover you do just that. Your sensitive self was being groomed to be able to take on more. You are able to handle more than you know.

6. The key to emotional stability is to have security. The sense of security to a sensitive person is like a fish needing water. With out it you would dry up. If you did not have a secure home life, ask yourself what you need to feel it now.

7. You have the ability to sense the underlying energies of others. This is why it is so easy to be overwhelmed by what you see and hear. This is an amazing gift that will give you a huge advantage over normal people. Once you learn to control it you will soar.

8. You have an affinity to the spirit world. Everyone else has access to a higher wisdom but you can speak to it. As a sensitive you have this ability for a very good reason. Listen well to the messages that spirit speaks to you. It will heal you.

9. Do you know what would happen if you sailed though life not making any mistakes. You would not gain anything new. You would not grow. Enjoy mistakes for what they are, simply a learning experience to help you along the path of your destiny.

10. Sensitive people are uniquely gifted to provide to humanity. In the bible it says, “The Meek Shall inherit The Earth.” The meek are the highly sensitive people. You are very dynamic and have a big role to play. It is time to stand up and be heard.

Your Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual selves want expression. Give it and you will find success.

My Daddy used to say there were two kinds of people in the world – those that are organized and those that aren’t. But I see it differently, I look at organization in two ways: effective or ineffective. If what you are happy with your type of organization – why change?

I think we spend too much time thinking about what other people think of our ability to organize. We can be very judgmental. Have you ever made assumptions about someone whose organizational style is different than your own?

What matters most is that you are happy with your organizational skills. Whether you fold and color code your socks and underwear or alphabetize soup cans, or drop everything (clean clothes, dirty clothes, magazines, uneaten food, etc.) into a big pile on the floor; you need to give yourself permission to be who you are and not let the opinion of others’ upset you. However, if you wish you were more effective. Keep reading!

The purpose of this article is to offer a simple plan for improving your efficiency – not radically change your style – but just give you some easy-to-integrate ideas. The first idea is to help with organizing things. The second is a suggestion about organizing your time. The ideas can be applied to home, school, or work.

Three Box System: How To Organize Your Things

First, get three boxes. In large letters label the boxes:

Box 1, the first box is the ‘THROW AWAY’ box. Box 2, the second box is the ‘GIVE AWAY’ box. Box 3, the third box is the ‘PUT AWAY’ box.

Begin by sorting through a cluttered area. Ask yourself three questions to determine which box an item goes into:

WARNING – Beware of the phrase ‘This might come in handy one day.’ You’ll never be able to throw or give anything away because it’s too easy to convince yourself that you are being prudent by keeping everything.

Organization – Build A Habit

Whatever you are used to doing is a habit – and it will take a concentrated effort on your part to change. It has been said that it takes 21 days to replace a habit. Why do most New Year’s Resolutions fade? Because we don’t focus on them long enough to become a new habit.

Practice, Practice, and More Practice

So, in your journey to become more effective with your time and/or space be aware that it takes about a month of constant, conscious repetition to make a lasting personal change.

You’re a highly sensitive person and you are made up of Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual components.

1. When you were young you were not equipped to alter what happened to you. It was not an indicator of what you could handle. Those were experiences to teach you how capable you were at handling trauma. You have survived and you are strong.

2. Listening to your body will grant you the wisdom of cause and effect. Your sensitive body will instruct you when you have made wrong choices and also right choices. How often now does your body react negatively to the choices you have made?

3. The thoughts you have about hurting the people who have harmed you bring more of the same into your life. Your mind is very powerful. It will create what you think about. Keep your thoughts on the positive. Have your mind work for you not against you.

4. To the extent to which you are able to believe determines your success level. A way to understand your beliefs is to listen to your self-talk. When you alter your beliefs about yourself, your abilities change with it. Nothing is out of reach.

5. Have you been so emotionally overwhelmed that it seemed as if you could not go on? Then after you recover you do just that. Your sensitive self was being groomed to be able to take on more. You are able to handle more than you know.

7. You have been entrusted with the ability to read people. If you are too open you will be overwhelmed by it. This is a fabulous benefit to you and will give you an ability to heal. Mastering this ability will make you a more powerful person.

8. You have a special connection to the spirit world. Although everyone can access a higher power, you can communicate with it. You are gifted with this ability for a very good reason. Listen well to the subtle clues that spirit speaks to you. It will be healing for you.

9. Mistakes in life are necessary for growth. They are simply learning experiences. You are here to learn and without errors you would not learn anything new. Enjoy them and have fun with them. You grow wiser with each new experience.

10. Sensitive people are uniquely gifted to provide to humanity. In the bible it says, “The Meek Shall inherit The Earth.” The meek are the highly sensitive people. You are very dynamic and have a big role to play. It is time to stand up and be heard.

Rhodiola Rosea is the most recent organic remedy added to the spectrum of anxiety and stress lowering agents that are completely natural.

by Keith Woolley

Rhodiola Rosea is the most recent organic remedy added to the spectrum of anxiety and stress lowering agents that are completely natural.

Golden Root, another name for Rhodiola Rosea, derives from a plant that is located in frigid Siberia. Eastern European and Asian cultures have used it for centuries to increase endurance, productivity, resistance to altitude sickness, and longevity and it has also been used to treat many conditions such as fatigue, depression, impotence, stomach illness, anemia, and disorders of the nervous system.

These are the first recorded medical uses of rodia riza. (name changed to Rhodiola Rosea) In 77 C, it was the Greek Physician, Dioscorides, who was known to have made this.E. contained within ‘De Materia Medica’. Since 1969, Rhodiola Rosea has occupied a spot on the roster of recognized Russian medicines.

Rhodiola Rosea has until now recently become known to the western world. Natural health practitioners have become aware of its effectiveness in combating anxiety and stress due to studies.

Rhodiola Rosea is known to be an adaptogen. What this stands to show is that it has a stabilizing effect on a person’s body without upsetting other functions. Its capability for normalizing hormones could prove successful for the treatment of conditions of depression as well as anxiety.

Studies have shown that Rhodiola Rosea stimulates the neurotransmitters and serves to enhance their affect on the brain. This incorporates the ability for your brain to ingest serotonin which can assist the body in dealing with stress.

The effect that adaptogens have on the body is being studied so that we can know it’s biological, chemical and physical stress results.

There are a lot of things that can cause stress in people’s lives, but they have found a herb, Rhodiola, which can give people some relief from stress. The simpliest things in life can be the most important to your health. (like, for instance, final exams). These studies determined that the use of Rhodiola Rosea had a positive effect on both the quantity and quality of tasks performed, improving mental acuity and lowering the effect of exhaustion.

Both physical and emotional sources of stress and anxiety respond to the effects of Rhodiola Rosea, according to tests. The American Botanical Council reports that the majority of those using it discover that it is beneficial for mood, amount of energy, and mental acuity. There have been studies that show that taking Rhodiola Rosea allows one to deal with stress easier and shelters the brain from negative effects of stress.

Details of studies showing the overall health benefits of Rhodiola Rosea are included in this report.

A dosage of between 200 and 600 mg daily is typically suggested. The active properties should be no less than 0.three percent of rosavin and eight percent of salidroside.

It is necessary for shoppers to be aware that Rhodiola might be on the market as something else that does not have the same ingredients as Rhodiola Rosea, or not strong enough to be used as a treatment. For anyone who suffers with depression or anxiety they should contact a health professional when you are treating these types of symptoms.

People around the world are fighting every day to get rid of annoying panic attacks. Some of these people are just like you in that they have tried everything and nothing seems to work.

by N. Miley Miley N.

People around the world are fighting every day to get rid of annoying panic attacks. Some of these people are just like you in that they have tried everything and nothing seems to work.

Do you remember some of the old movie scenes where a person would be breathing heavily and someone nearby would hand them a brown paper bag help calm their breathing? Well, we always just dismissed those things as hyperventilating from being nervous. However, the fear associated with panic attacks goes way beyond just hyperventilating.

Panic attacks can pretty occur at any time and in any place so finding out how to avoid attacks can often cause great stress. Some experts state that a large portion of panic attacks are based on imaginary fears and that they can be controlled once the victim of these attacks understands that concept.

This imaginary fear is often generated when you are in some kind of uncomfortable situation or at least one that your brain starts to tell you is uncomfortable. In in other words, it could be quite normal like a Sunday drive through the country. All of a sudden, your brain starts to put thoughts into your mind like…what if we crash soon, I’m getting too far away from home, there are no people out this far.

An endless number of thoughts along those lines can help to launch a panic attack. You realize the thoughts are not reality yet you think about them, you get anxious, and eventually it turns into a repeating cycle of thoughts, nervousness and anxiety that leads to a panic attack.

Sometimes, you may be unaware that you are actually having a panic attack unless you have gone through it many times in the past. Some of the the physical signs that my manifest during a panic attack are…

1. Breathing Difficulty

2. Fast Heart

3. Dizziness

4. Stomach Might Feel Ill

5. Head or Neck Aches

6. Chest Tightness

There could be some clear emotional signs and triggers as well…

1. Angry Outbursts

2. Feeling of Impending Death

3. Extreme Sadness

4. Being Nervous

by Dr. R. Kirouac

Symptoms of stress have been around for thousands of years, affecting people differently.

Symptoms of stress can broadly be categorized into three classes: In most cases, stressed people experience a combination of symptoms from these three categories: psychological, physical and/or emotional.

Symptoms of Stress can include heart pounding, headaches, sweaty palms, indigestion, skin breaks out, shortness of breath, holding breath, cold hands, and sleeplessness to name just a few.

You probably don’t know it but, stress has probably caused you a lot of grief already. The symptoms are frequently disguised as other problems.

Symptoms signal that stress is doing damage. Symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder usually develop within the first 3 months after the trauma, but they may not surface until months or even years have passed.

Stress not only attacks your body, it also wreaks havvock on your mind. Depression and anxiety are frequent visitors to a stressed person’s life.

When there is no let up in the stress, health suffers quickly. Heart attacks and strokes and sudden death are often the end result.

Factors such as job insecurity, long hours, continuous change and unrealistic deadlines all contribute to stress.

Feeling overwhelmed by the demands life makes on you, feeling as if you cannot control life’s events, these all gang up on you to increase stress.

You are probably suffering from severe stress if you are experiencing memory or concentration problems, insomnia or broken sleep.

Recognize common stress symptoms – then take steps to manage them. Recognize the triggers or stresors in your life. Relaxation techniques like meditation are another great option for relieving stress.

Stay away from alcohol, caffeine, drugs and sugar as they all leave behind adverse effects on you.

Certain personality types also tend to bring on more stress, and respond to stressful situations less effectively, such as perfectionists or those who are ‘Type A’. Certain lifestyle factors and attitudes can be telling indicators also.
